Eli Njuchi (born Chifuniro Steven Magalasi on July 23, 2001, in Lilongwe, Malawi) is a Malawian singer, songwriter, rapper, and dancer.
The third of six children and a distant relative of the late dancehall star Mafunyeta, he started making music at age 13 under the name Stevovo. He recorded his first song, “Never Leave You,” in 2015 and later joined the group Njuchi StingDem (with Chizmo and Coctiz).
He broke through in 2018 with the hit “Illuminati,” winning the UMP Best New Act award that year and Male Artist of the Year in 2019. His major projects include the EP The Book of Z (2020), the album The Book of Eli (2020), Red Flag (2022), and Jordan Year (2024).
Known for blending dancehall, R&B, and Afro-pop with honest, mature lyrics about life, love, and struggle, he is one of Malawi’s leading young artists.
